Jose Latorre, dual-degree Master’s Candidate in Sustainable Design & Community and Regional Planning within the School of Architecture, leads the Programs & Events Committee. The P&E Committee works closely with local partners to achieve our goal of creating unique and impactful programming for the graduate student community. We sometimes team up with fellow graduate registered student organizations (RSOs like the Graduate Engineering Council), our peer legislative student organizations (LSOs such as Senate or Student Government), community non-profits (most recently Eastside Community Connection), and others to plan and develop events in the areas of community building, professional development, and graduate service.
For the 2014-2015 academic year, the P&E Committee is planning to schedule 3 major events throughout the year including the traditional GPDW (Graduate Professional Development Week), GPAW (Graduate and Professional Appreciation Week), and one event still to be determined. In that sense, time commitment will vary with the most intense work required in the two to three week period prior to the event’s start. Typical responsibilities range from event idea conception to full implementation and post-activity assessment. If you want to be part of a committee that will keep you engaged with the graduate community and active within the GSA, this would be a great fit for you. Additional responsibilities include areas like event planning, marketing and design work, establishing audiences, and more.
